Team Gertee, a cause worth supporting

Crash Test Dummiez
How to make warm, safe emergency homes from recycled materials, in this insecure world who knows when this knowledge may be a life-saver?

Why we started this fundraiser

We have inspired hundreds of people around the world to scavenge, upcycle, and transform non-hazardous waste into quality building materials. Our hands-on field research, personal experiences, and educational resources have been available online for free for years.
This year we would like to expand our school and rent a commercial office space and workshop. We want to develop a full catalog of books, videos, full-size and minaiture building kits, games, puzzles, materials guides, how-to guides, workshop packages, and multimedia educational systems that will engage and empower people of all ages and socio-economic backgrounds.
We also want to host building demos, scavenger hunts and other events to engage the community and raise awareness about upcycling, sustainable design, affordable housing, and homelessness prevention.
We reach out out to DIYers, green designers, artists, refugees, displaced peoples, disadvantaged youth, students, runaways, single parents, veterans, disaster victims, families and individuals affected by post-economic collapse, illnesses, accidents, domestic violence, state violence, conflicts, wars, famines, floods, fires and other catastrophes.
By partnering with community leaders, business owners, designers, builders, artisans and educators to develop infrastructure, affordable housing, relief villages and waste transformation systems in Alaska and worldwide. Please help us provide education, inspiration, innovation, resources, networking, advocacy, facilities, equipment, tools and materials to help displaced people recover from disaster and build homes for life!

How you can help

Please share our fundraiser with your friends, family and business associates. With your help, we can expand our school, develop our catalog of educational materials, host building demos, scavenger hunts and other events.
The smallest donation or even just passing the word on can make a huge difference. THANK YOU!!!

Gertee: Houses made from Scraps

http://tinyhouseblog.com/yurts/gertee-houses-made-from-scraps/

Niki Raapana is guest posting for us today about the Gertee - a house made from scraps:
"You’re looking at a disaster that used to be a livable house. Besides the wood, doors and windows, you also see curtains, beddings and other fabrics poking out. Where many people see only a trash pile, I see enormous potential. Why? Because even if the wood is singed and the fabrics have rips, I know that with just a few simple tools, a way to cut the wood and wash the materials, we have the makings for a little temporary house I call gertee."

"Note to our Anti Communtarian League friends, this is also how we support our ACL research and book co. so your contribution to TEAM GERTEE is also a contribution to our continued work on the ACL. " Niki.
Please consider even a small donation, it is guaranteed not to disappear into the dodgy, third sector quangocracy. Cheesy.
