Overseas Aid?

On 16 May 2012, at 13:51,

Andrew Neil, in the Daily Politics programme today, completely floored
the Conservative Minister, Mark Harper when he said that the Coalition
was planning to spend more on Overseas Aid than the UK Police Force.
Mr Harper claimed this could not be right, then Andrew quoted the
government's own figures (not sure of the date, I think it was 2014/15)
The Overseas Aid Budget....£11.5 billion.  The Home Office (Police)
£8.8 billion !!!!!  Very embarrassing for the Minister, particularly in
front of the others round the table and all those watching the programme.

It wouldn’t be so bad if this money actually helped the poor – and the poor of India, Africa and other third world countries ARE very, very poor.
It would be truly wonderful if it did.
I believe the Gov. in the UK (LIB,LAB or CON) does this donating of ‘aid’ continually - because it is an incredibly lucrative earner for themselves and their mates.
Sadly, nobody goes to Africa or India with a suitcase full of tax payers’ money or a Gov. cheque book, gets in a taxi or on a camel and says “take me to the poorest village.”
This money is funnelled through the Third Sector both here in the UK /Europe and, at the receiving end, the third sectors (charities) of countries like India, etc. (don’t forget that Common Purpose is highly active over over the world now) with money being creamed off all the way on – expenses, computers, offices, staff and furnishings, travel expenditure, fees to ‘analysts’ and ‘experts’ for ‘studies,’ wining, dining and schmoosing, blah blah blah. It ping-pongs through one charitable trust, etc. to another, getting ever smaller and smaller until it completely vanishes, while the poor stay the same and are totally unaware that any money was ever donated!
And we all know that you traditionally cannot do ANYTHING in these countries without little brown envelopes. You can’t even ask someone where the loo is without the hand coming out for a tip.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baksheesh
The people in charge of these third sector NGOs are the connected cronies of the people in our own and the Indian / African, whatever, governments.
I do not have any proof.
I JUST KNOW IT!

And be aware, the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 does not cover third sector organisations so you cannot find out much about it all.   The F. of  I. Act 2000 only covers our rapidly disappearing Public Sector - which would have once been responsible for these payments and accountable to YOU! Now, I believe, it appears to be a third sector bunfight where aid is concerned!
