Common Purpose, Cheshire Pussy, Cadre Project, Communist Party!

Does the idea of reading someone else's letters make you feel uncomfortable? What about someone else's diary, notes, health records, financial records or work related reports?
What if a person says to you "read that," and it is from their diary or private correspondence?
You would probably say, "No, I couldn't."
If the person, a friend or relative then says, "Yes go on, please, I want you to."
You would, but you would still feel uncomfortable doing so.

What about if the letter was just laying there though, unprotected? Imagine if you could read it with ease, without being found out and having once read it, well you would have gained so much more knowledge and understanding!

Would you feel differently if you did not know the person at all? Would you feel less guilt?
What about if this paperwork is concealed in a drawer, or a cupboard, or you had access to their personal computer and nobody else will be around for ages? Would you be able to resist sneaking a crafty peep?

Of course, for some in Great Britain this is a full-time job - they are paid to read other peoples' private details and nowadays this includes mail, phone calls, emails and text messages.

What about other peoples' money. Do you respect other peoples' possessions and money, would you feel uncomfortable taking it and spending it? If you had responsibility for another person's money would you feel uncomfortable spending any of it on yourself?
What about if it was highly unlikely they would ever find out? Is the idea still repellent to you?
"How dare you suggest I would do such a thing" you will say.
Or might you be tempted?

What about if you were a trustee and had access to, and responsibility for, enormous multi-millions of other peoples' money? Could you resist paying yourself and your friends with other peoples' money if you were certain no-one else will ever know? You might.

"There is no such thing as a free lunch."
Can there really be legions of British so ignorant that they have never heard of this expression, or so arrogant or in denial that they do not think it applies to them?

What about if wonderful schemes for this money, where it could do so much more good, were suggested to you? Could you be persuaded to take a risk, not with your own money but with other peoples' money?
Do you think it would be fun gambling with other peoples' money?
What kind of people might be attracted into your circle of friends and work colleagues? Nice people or not-so-nice people?
Might you become mentally ill from the responsibility of it all?

Who knows? C'est la vie!

Moving on to something completely different. Here is a letter I recently sent which you are welcome to read,

Dear Alice, put down that hookah and pay attention,

I have been educating myself through the internet for the last couple of years. I cannot say I entirely “get” this Hegelian thing but I do know it is confusing and deceitful, and my research continues. It is all starting to make a great deal of sense.

I visited a certain person's blogspot “Living Outside the Dialectic” for the first time and was delighted to see the reference to Common Purpose UK. I was one of the people who contacted Jeff Rense about CP last year. I also contacted David Icke, and an assortment of other colourful personalities and websites so as to inform as many ordinary people as possible about this secret “training program,” because it is going international.
Knowledge of Common Purpose is important because, even if people in the Americas and elsewhere hate Britain and the British (and many do), this problem may not be confined just to us in the future. In our defence, please try to understand how totally muppety, educationally lobotomised and lost many of the general UK population here are these days! We are Totally Clueless! Even the recent London bombings and the Dr. Kelly incident have scarcely registered with Joe Public! Except to make them feel rather uneasy, which is a good start I suppose.

Brian Gerrish has struck a chord with me, and does with the British who get to hear him, because he is quite right. Nothing here is working properly anymore! And things used to be fairly OK years ago. And this is not just a case of older people tending to look back through rose-tinted specs. and banging on about “the good old days,” as some twits may claim.
Britain feels very wrong – the health service, housing, mainstream media, farming, elections, education, disabled and elderly care, law, etc. are being skewed, distorted and collapsed into chaos. As we draw ever closer to Europe (the damned EU) the UK is changing for the worse, to the bewilderment of ordinary people.

Having discovered Brian’s videos and learned of Common Purpose I cannot believe how long CP has been running and how very ignorant and naive I, and most of my fellow countrymen, have been! How its creators must have been laughing at us all for years and years and years!

I am not as educated or computer literate as you but I have just started my first ever blog, theangrycheese.blogspot.com
To be honest it is a bit of a mess and I have nobody to help me so it is trial and error but I’ll get there! I intend to cover CP in my blog shortly but here is some of what I have found out so far. Please pass this information on to anyone interested

Perhaps this one will mean more to you in relation to your Dialectic Studies than I’m afraid it does to me,

http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Uk/uk.politics.misc/2006-03/msg01431.html

Julia Middleton started Common Purpose because she had become frustrated in relation to how stuffy and compartmentalised leaders were, and the nature of leadership was, and she felt there needed to be more flexibility and collaboration in leadership, etc. Mind you, back in the 80s and early-to-mid 90s leaders were more remote from each other simply due to the lack of technology - no internet, few mobile phones, no email etc. Given a chance, might not more openness between organisations and departments have just developed naturally as the new gadgets were introduced?
Perhaps some control freaks feel it all needs organising for the future?

Anyway how much leadership and how many leaders does, even an ambitious and talented young woman come into contact with? How long would it actually take for a young woman, from the start of her career, to eventually become disillusioned through disappointing experiences and then begin to strive for change? And to conceive a new approach and then launch it so successfully that it is now entrenched in almost every area of British public life? Could Common Purpose have been the idea of others perhaps, and she was “selected” for her future role?

She was head of personnel in the Deputy Prime Minister’s (John Prescott) office when she started CP and I believe she actually ran it from his offices originally. Need to check that.
Common Purpose is a registered charity yet secretively operates under The Chatham House Rule. This means no records are kept of any of its clandestine meetings. I believe this rule was first introduced by the British Government for top secret, nation-threatening-type scenarios only, and has not actually been used a great deal by the Government. Better check this as well to be sure I have my facts straight.
Why would Common Purpose, a charity, use this rule?

So Common Purpose is targeted towards those who show signs of having leadership qualities.
How very flattering to be recognised as a potential leader, how thrilling! Apparently one is chosen, and invited to attend a training weekend (usually all-expenses paid) at the end of which one becomes a Common Purpose “Graduate.” Oh my, how wonderful! And possibly very helpful when added to one’s CV.
Hang On A Minute - perhaps you can only get certain jobs or promotion these days if you are a CP graduate! Perhaps that is why some call it a Freemasonry-type secret society! We need to check all this.

These training sessions are expensive too, approx. £3500.00 for the basic course, up to more than £8500.00 for more influential people! Trainees frequently attend more than one! The courses have trendy (rather corny) names like “Matrix” etc.
Common Purpose has hoovered up truly colossal sums of public money down the years, actually millions of pounds, which could have been much more wisely, responsibly, sensibly and constructively spent on our people. However, the average person still knows nothing about Common Purpose! And has no idea what is happening!

What would happen if the British people were to grab a simple calculator in the privacy of their own home and do the maths? If they were to just get hold of their local Yellow Pages, open it and go to sections like Local Government, Councils, Government Offices etc. and realise the enormity of this! All of the hundreds of these different departments and offices are likely to have sent at least one, probably many, of their staff on a Common Purpose course, including; the NHS, Education Depts. Magistrates and Courts, the Police, Financial, Cleansing and Environment Depts.etc. And this will be just in an individual's hometown or county. Multiplied by how many Local Authorities there are across the whole of Britain! And by how many years CP has been operating! This adds up to a truly colossal amount of public money spent on training about which the public know virtually nothing, yet they are paying for it !!
And we all wonder why standards of public service and care are falling nationwide and council tax keeps going up!

www.commonpurpose.org.uk/home/programmes/find/area.aspx

I repeat. The people most likely to be perceived to have these leadership qualities, or in need of having them honed, are often employed in the Public Sector. So who pays for it? Well these trainees, our potential leaders of tomorrow who one day might save us all, cannot be expected to scrimp from their meagre pocket money to be be able to afford their own training, so their “boss” pays. That is you and me- the tax-payers. Talk about "starting as you mean to go on"!

Or CP might spot leadership abilities in a young, or not-so-young, successful business person - who can pay for themselves. Or in someone doing well in a big firm – then of course the firm can cough up the cash. These are training expenses and probably tax-deductible so what is the problem?
There also seems to be merit in a Common Purpose graduate recruiting lots of new CP trainees. Can you see how this could drain a council department's budget, and lead to the clamouring for evermore and larger allowances from the public purse, in spite of which nothing ever seems to improve as far as Joe Public can tell? It explains a hell of a lot!

Hang On A Minute, Common Purpose is a charity! How can, and why would, a charity be secret?
Surely charities depend upon openness and being widely known about in order to receive donations from the public towards their good works? That is how most people view a charity. Or have the rules been stretched or changed?
Since when have charities depended on Government funds?
Since when have the Government and Local Authorities made donations to secret charities with our money?
Are there any other secret charities about which the public know absolutely nothing yet are contributing to hugely through their hard-earned taxes? And at the expense of basic services!
If so, which ones might they be? If not, what is so special about Common Purpose that it has been able to develop and operate in the peculiar way that it has?

Very cleverly, this training is tied up closely with " Diversity.”Think about what this means. It is possible that anyone who objects to Common Purpose, anyone who queries it or thinks it could be dodgy could be labelled a “racist.”

Also, be aware that the Police and the Judiciary from Magistrates up to Crown Court judges, High Court judges and above, as well as their governing body the Law Society, are totally infiltrated by Common Purpose graduates now, so you can see we have to be a tad careful when discussing or writing about anything to do with CP! Litigation is referred to prominently on their older sites.

Members of all our armed forces, and many religious groups are into CP, as are many universities, colleges, the Arts etc! www.ncl.ac.uk/press.office/newslink/index.html?ref=1115288165

Here is a confusing website. It is Common Purpose but it appears to be in disguise,

www.communityni.org/index.cfm/section/finder/key/1652

When you click onto "Events, News, or About Us" you would think it is a different organisation, or is it?
Note – Cast Your Vote – "Is Sustainability an essential part of your work?"
Sustainability, or Sustainable Development is now a huge and controversial issue in the USA I believe, much like Common Purpose is here:

Google Video: The Nature of Sustainable Development, by Michael Shaw. ( a cheesed-off American version of Brian Gerrish! )

Julia Middleton’s new book entitled “ Beyond Authority “ is published by Palgrave Macmillan which is part of the Macmillan publishing Group. Richard Charkin was its CEO for ten years until Autumn 2007 when he moved to Bloomsbury Books (Harry Potter.)
R. Charkin has also been Chair of the UK Board of Trustees of Common Purpose for ten years, standing down recently and handing over to Chris Mathias. Richard Charkin’s eldest daughter Emily has been head of South London Common Purpose for many years.

www.sustainable-placemaking.org/participants.htm

What can we make of all this?

Is Common Purpose primarily a system for the recruitment of Communitarianist change agents? Is "Change Agent" just another name for the Cadre System of the Communist regimes?
www.newswithviews.com/Raapana/niki.htm

Is Common Purpose nothing more than a method of spreading more quickly the hegemony of the European Union?

www.conspiracyarchive.com/NewAge/social_change_agents.htm

The people involved in Common Purpose at the higher levels appear to be politicians or civil servant-types with Fabian ( socialist) connections, or involved in British Think Tank type of organisations similar to the Tavistock Institute, the Young Foundation, the Rowntree Trust, etc. Julia Middleton herself worked for the Industrial Society and Demos. Could some these organisations be public funded charities too? If so, why? Think Tanks are just Lobby Groups aren't they?
Actually, where does all their money come from? Trusts? Why are there so many of them?
If we, the public, are paying we have the right to know! And if those running commercial companies are buying political influence for their own benefit through them we have a right to know that too, do we not?

What do you think, dear Alice?
Curiouser and curiouser,
very queer
indeed,

yours sincerely, The Angry Cheese.

Money Masters, Debt Slaves.

Song - To The Men Of England

by Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792 – 1822)
Men of England, wherefore plough
For the lords who lay ye low?
Wherefore weave with toil and care
The rich robes your tyrants wear?
Wherefore feed and clothe and save,
From the cradle to the grave,
Those ungrateful drones who would
Drain your sweat -nay, drink your blood?

Wherefore, Bees of England, forge
Many a weapon, chain, and scourge,
That these stingless drones may spoil
The forced produce of your toil?

Have ye leisure, comfort, calm,
Shelter, food, love's gentle balm?
Or what is it ye buy so dear
With your pain and with your fear?

The seed ye sow another reaps;
The wealth ye find another keeps;
The robes ye weave another wears;
The arms ye forge another bears.

Sow seed, -but let no tyrant reap;
Find wealth, -let no imposter heap;
Weave robes, -let not the idle wear;
Forge arms, in your defence to bear.

Shrink to your cellars, holes, and cells;
In halls ye deck another dwells.
Why shake the chains ye wrought? Ye see
The steel ye tempered glance on ye.

With plough and spade and hoe and loom,
Trace your grave, and build your tomb,
And weave your winding-sheet, till fair
England be your sepulchre!

Money - Sterling or Euro?
This animated online film explains, in an entertaining way, the basics of what money means, how it has developed and how it is now created. Everyone needs to and must have a basic understanding of money. Your future choices depend on it and this is absolutely vital, so please take a little time and watch it more than once so you “get it.” And tell your family, friends and neighbours to do the same, http://moneyasdebt.net
www.themoneymasters.com is a fascinating and informative documentary which goes into much more detail. They can both be easily found by a Google Video search.
After watching these, you should have a basic idea of how our money system works. Both of these films are made from the American perspective but, as you will have seen, our systems are closely linked.

An invaluable website by an Englishman, that I have recently found on the web, helps to explain the British monetary situation and what is wrong with it, in short informative articles, using plain English with dry humour: www.monetaryreform.org Highly recommended.
www.prosperityuk.com based in Glasgow, contains yet more helpful information. And you also might want to consider this: www.moneyreformparty.org.uk

The problem we all have is that it has suited the privileged minority to keep this information to themselves as much as possible. Most ordinary British people are never taught any of this at school when growing up.
We get taught arithmetic so we can calculate our money, as we grow we become used to handling coins and banknotes. We take money for granted and just get used to it. We are left to assume that some money is saved in banks and some is lent to borrowers, and that the two somehow balance each other out.
We also learn that our money is minted ( physically made - coins and notes ) by the Bank of England. It says so on our banknotes. We believe that a huge gold reserve exists somewhere in the vaults of the Bank of England which represents the value of all our money, giving our banknotes ( which are really just a paper IOUs. or promissory notes ) their legitimacy and validity. (
1)
When we get a little older we realise that a few, very wealthy people work behind the scenes in The City of London in Merchant Banks, investing stocks and shares in the International Money Markets. Some ordinary people with a little knowledge of the money markets may have some success with this type of investment, and some may get their fingers burnt. They may pay a broker or dealer (the experts) to advise and assist them but do even they know how the system works? Perhaps not.
It is rather like a car – you can learn to drive, buy a car, fuel it, drive it, clean it, pay someone else to repair it, without having the slightest idea of how it actually works. It is the same with computers and other modern gadgets.
To most of us who try to understand the monetary system, listening to a serious radio program (are there any nowadays?), watching an informative TV documentary (not many of these now either!), or looking at a serious newspaper (oh dear!) or book covering money matters is pointless. It seems incomprehensible. Economists dazzle us with a tirade of statistical gobbledy-gook and, feeling rather inferior, most of us have become resigned to our “stupidity” and have given up.
We are not stupid though because our education has been deliberately neglected. This gap that most of us have in our knowledge must be tackled now, before the next monetary stage is introduced.
What do you think the Chancellor of the Exchequer means when he refers to “government borrowing” or the “national debt?” Why are we in debt and to whom? How can a country be in debt? What about the Bank of England? How does it work? Why is our country, and all the other countries of the world, forever borrowing and in debt? Most people do not know the answers, how can they? (2)
So we have to trust the “experts” in power, those we elect and their civil servants in the councils and ministries, to look after the nation’s money. But do they? Have they? Should they to be trusted? (
3)
If you have by now watched the films and read the suggested website info. you will know that the Federal Reserve Bank in the USA is actually a private bank secretly owned by a few super-wealthy people for their own benefit entirely. The Bank of England, in spite of its patriotic name, is also no such thing! It should be called “ The Bank of Privilege,” and has been privately owned for centuries by the same few greedy, wealthy, elite family groups whose identities are actually protected by an Act of Parliament,- The Official Secrets Act!
( A bunch of crooks - a mafia, protected by an Act of Parliament! )
Their ancestors obtained this position of ownership centuries ago by an act of fraud ( insider dealing ) and they and their offspring have been sitting pretty, and literally creating global havoc in order to boost their income, ever since. They have played with natural resources and they deliberately hold-up technology and development for their own enrichment. These vile people are perfectly happy and content to make profit while ordinary people struggle, starve and die in the hundreds, thousands and even millions in bogus wars or in deliberately engineered stock market crashes, all designed to make money for them. As time passes more people are dying all over the world because of the behaviour of these banking families. They and their thieving, deceitful monetary system are responsible for the deaths of well over 200 million people in the last (20th ) century.
Think about that!
As time passes more and more people die!
Over 200 million in the last century!
So how many of us are likely to die horribly and totally unnecessarily during this century?
How confident and safe do you feel? (a)
They are permitted to make money out of nothing, and then lend it to the government. It is repaid with interest and who pays? The ordinary, decent unaware people, with their sweat and blood.
Immediately after World War Two, the British Government purchased The Bank Of England. It is now described as being owned by the Government.
“So that’s alright then isn’t it?” you might assume.
“ Well no actually.”
At that time the government did not have the money to buy it due to being literally bankrupted by the two war efforts, so the Bank of England was purchased in 1946 with bonds bought with loans from the same elite families?!! (4)
This served two purposes, money was released so our wrecked country could start to rebuild, and the families became camouflaged behind a board of bankers and rafts of legislation and paperwork.
Very patriotic these elite families, very British! Our ancestors had to die on battlefronts, get blown up, work and starve on rations for years but could the elite do their bit and contribute by parting with some of their precious dosh, for the sake of our country? No, but they could give our elected government a loan, with interest. How very kind, how Christian of them! But then they never were too fond of Jesus. Remember, the only time Jesus ever really lost his temper was over these types of money-lenders ( the Pharisees, the upper class ) and their usury in exploiting their poor fellow Jews at the entrance to the Temple in Jerusalem.
Obviously, these loans have had to be repaid. The only outcome of this “purchase” has been that it has enabled the families to wave the big stick while hiding ever since behind a board of smart puppet directors who appear to take decisions in consultation with our elected Government. In reality of course they could be described as a form of “ front,” but they give the Bank of England a veneer of honesty, utility and moral integrity, like a polished shell covering something less pleasant.
“The borrower is servant to the lender.” King James Bible, Proverbs 22: 7.
Where does that actually leave us, because our elected Government - our representatives are servant, in no way to the British people but, exclusively to the privileged few who own the money system.
“ Well, perhaps we should move to the Euro currency. Then we will be in a new monetary system and free of the Bank of England and Sterling, ” you might ask.
“ No No No, please, you could not be more mistaken. ” (
5)
All of the currencies of mainland Europe have been owned and manipulated by branches of these elite for centuries too. The Conversion to the Euro actually changes nothing for ordinary people except making their exploitation ever-more convenient for the elite families. The European Bankers (including the owners of our banking system) as master, the European Government as servant. The elite families will be even more hidden behind yet more layers of administration. The European financial system will be make it even harder for the positive and necessary changes.
What kind of change do we need?
Money creation must be removed from The Bank of England and must be placed in a public body whose purpose is the creation of money debt-free for the benefit of the country. This money will be spent into the country on necessary and worthy projects, NOT lent to it. The creation of money from debt must stop. (6)

Read, listen to or watch this webcast. You might not agree with all of it but the basic facts are true, you will not learn about this from the UK mainstream media.

As we wobble towards a serious recession it would be well worth considering joining or, if there isn't one near you, starting a local LETS scheme as suggested at the end of the " money as debt " film mentioned above. See www.letslinkuk.net or other similar sites.

On Thursday the 10th January 2008, on BBC 2 Newsnight, Jeremy Paxman asked Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks point blank if the British public will have to pay for the controversial new nuclear power stations or for the storage and disposal of the dangerous waste material from our older nuclear power stations as they are decommissioned. He was told by Mr Wicks categorically “No.” And that the government intends to raise all the money from private investors.
Homework: After what you have read and learned from this short article, do you think the public will pay or not. Explain your reasoning. ( only joking )

Scotland's Vital Role

Caledonia

Caledonia! thou land of the mountain and rock,
Of the ocean, the mist, and the wind-
Thou land of the torrent, the pine, and the oak,
Of the roebuck, the hart, and the hind;

Though bare are thy cliffs, and though barren thy glens,
Though bleak thy dun islands appear,
Yet kind are the hearts, and undaunted the clans,
That roam on these mountains so drear!

A foe from abroad, or a tyrant at home,
Could never thy ardour restrain;
The marshall'd array of imperial Rome
Essay'd thy proud spirit in vain!

Firm seat of religion, of valour, of truth,
Of genius unshackled and free,
The muses have left all the vales of the south,
My loved Caledonia, for thee!

Sweet land of the bay and wild-winding deeps
Where loveliness slumbers at even,
While far in the depth of the blue water sleeps
A calm little motionless heaven!

Thou land of the valley, the moor, and the hill,
Of the storm and the proud rolling wave-
Yes, thou art the land of fair liberty still,
And the land of my forefathers' grave!

James Hogg (1770 – 1835)

The United Kingdom? Scotland's Vital Role.
The fact is we all get along quite well in the British Isles and we move around much more these days and live in each others' countries, and generally there is no real problem. Traditionally we still have our regional differences which occasionally manifest themselves, usually during sporting events, but these could be ignited into something more confrontational and extreme by those with ulterior wicked or distructive intentions. Generally the British have worked together very well in the recent past, facing the huge historical problems placed before us. In fact it has been rather wonderful, but to some it may seem that we British have done far too well over the last 200 years, and achieved far too much, and that this situation cannot be allowed to continue!

Why exactly did Blair and Co. devolve power to the regions on taking office? I do not remember the subject being discussed much or in any great detail on the run up to that election? Obviously, the people of Northern Ireland badly needed change of some kind but the scale of the plan for an actual Scottish Parliament and Welsh Assembly came as a total surprise to many ordinary people, after New Labour obtained power ten years ago.

I believe they are a diversion to split opinion across the UK and to awaken ancient, ugly, tribal grievances, enabling Westminster and The City to get up to their self-serving schemes while the distracted general population squabbles in dismay over the fairness of prescription charges, tax and welfare, student fees and the principle of North Sea oil.

See (a) for a recent example of needless mischief-making by a smirking “lord,” stirring up the sediment at the bottom of the pond. Expect much more of this kind of infantile behaviour in the future, from those of privilege and in power. (If he has only just discovered these verses then it does not say much for his education, they were covered in my junior state-school music class! Along with certain verses of Rule Brittania, and in some old sea-shanties that were fun to sing but would now be non-PC. ) Trouble-making is very much part of the new agenda, and there is a lot more at risk than just an old-fashioned patriotic song from a different era!

Why did Blair recently disband the most world-famous Scottish regiments? Could the reason be to encourage the Scots to resent the British Government? Has it worked?

I believe that certain people in our government, in banking, business and the establishment, powerful people, secretly desire and relish the regional rivalries that are now developing. In fact they are deliberately causing them. These Europhiles have been very busy for a long time undermining the institution of the United Kingdom. The UK has been a success for about three centuries but is now obsolete and is being replaced by the EU which has been specifically developed to facilitate the national and fiscal absorption of all European and surrounding countries. Some interesting facts:

1) Scotland has always been a very powerful and important country. Many are not aware that, historically, Scotland has often lead in the creation of legislation which is then introduced at a later time in the rest of Great Britain. This is an old, established legal precedent. Not all law in our history has been passed first in London and then imposed on Scotland.

One example involves unpasteurised milk which is banned in Scotland but permitted in England. Blair intended to simply bring English law into line with Scotland, on becoming Prime Minister, and bring in a total ban. However, English dairy farmers and their customers campaigned and Blair was forced to back down. The precedent was there though, for Scotland to lead and for England to follow, and he could have easily done this. It is nothing new, and could have been achieved with little more than the proverbial stroke of a pen.
Traditionally, the UK countries have some differing laws which have developed reflecting local religion or custom. Two examples; you could not buy a drink in parts of Wales on Sunday in the old days because all the pubs were shut. There are no abortion clinics in Northern Ireland.

2) Mary Queen of Scots and Bonnie Prince Charlie, are two famous examples of the many historical, pre-UK, attempts of Scots striving to thwart the English with aid from European countries i.e. France, Rome (the Vatican) and Spain.

3) Scottish banks have printed their own banknotes for centuries.
Now continue thinking along the lines of Scotland leading, and England following and just bear with me here:

If, or when, Scotland goes completely independent it will then deal with the EU in its own right. The pressure to abandon Sterling and join the euro will become intense. Many blinkered fools in Scotland, feeling tribal and possibly believing life is just a game of football, will want to dump Sterling just to cheese off the English, not realising or considering that this

a) may not be in their own peoples’ best long-term interest and

b) may be exactly what the British Government and the other major political parties have secretly desired and been planning for.
Joining the euro will be marketed to young Scots as being their future and a fresh start, shaking off stuffy old Britain. Older people will decline, and impressionable younger people will be voting for, and will be elected to, the Scottish Parliament. Nonsense like the oil issue will be argued over, as if the English people or the Scots have ever or will ever own or benefit from it. Don't be so naive!

If they go for it, England, Wales and N. Ireland will then have to change as well. We already have Ireland and France with euros. If Scotland changes to the euro, all our near neighbours will then be using the euro and Sterling really will no longer be practical. Scotland will have achieved a very hollow victory which future generations throughout the whole of the British Isles will deeply regret.

The English government of the day will be able to pretend total innocence and appear helpless in the winds of change, and people may never suspect that it was planned all along, over years, by those in power back-stage of the political scene. This is how the Europhile Establishment may be planning to introduce the euro into Great Britain because at the moment the idea is still very unpopular here.

It could happen. Why else would Blair have bothered?

Is it important? Does it really matter if we change to the euro?

Yes, I believe it does.

In the Highlands

In the highlands, in the country places,
Where the old plain men have rosy faces,
And the young fair maidens
Quiet eyes;

Where essential silence cheers and blesses,
And for ever in the hill-recesses
Her more lovely music
Broods and dies.

O to mount again where erst I haunted;
Where the old red hills are bird-enchanted,
And the low green meadows
Bright with sward;

And when even dies, the million-tinted,
And the night has come, and planets glinted,
Lo, the valley hollow
Lamp-bestarred!

O to dream, O to wake and wander
There, and with delight to take and render,
Through the trance of silence
Quiet breath;

Lo! for there, among the flowers and grasses,
Only the mightier movement sounds and passes;
Only winds and river,
Life and death.

Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)
