Rupert Murdoch is a Dalek

The Professional V the Enthusiastic Amateur.

Murdoch CEO Labels <span class=

So attractive! Rupert Murdoch is evolving. Every day he looks more like the pinky-grey, wrinkly lump of sludgey crap you would find inside a Dalek, if you pulled the top off.

"You bloggers should be exterminated."

And now he and his arrogant, avaricious pals are starting to sound a bit like bossy Daleks too!
They REALLY hate the Internet, and the effect it's having on their news-rag sales - and their bank vaults! For example:

"Then there are the bloggers.

In return for their free content, we pretty much get what we’ve paid for - something of such limited intellectual value as to be barely discernible from massive ignorance."

And they quote someone called Andrew Keen from his clever, condescending book The Cult of the Amateur,

"Citizen journalists, he says, simply don’t have the resources to bring us reliable news. They lack not only expertise and training but access to decision makers and reliable sources.

The difference, he says, between professionals and amateurs is that bloggers don’t go to jail for their work – they simply aren’t held accountable like real reporters." from:

What is a Professional though?
A Professional is often considered to be an "expert" and has usually been a student who has passed his exams to the satifaction of a bunch of academic scrutineers, and perhaps gone on to do the same post grad. and then landed himself a position where he is paid to please - who?
Well, he has to follow his profession's code of conduct, please his employers, his partners, his investers the shareholders, the authorities, his peer group, the Goverment.......blah, blah, blah..

And what is an Amateur?

The Enthusiastic Amateur, however, pleases himself! Nobody has bought him off. Nobody tells him what to study, or how to approach his studies, or what to say or not say. He has to stay within the law but the enthusiastic amateur works from his own pure passion for the subject, driven by a personal experience perhaps, or a dream of achievement. Often a lonely figure, shunned and sneered at by clever, successful students who dismiss his work as unprofessional. This is a real scholar!

There is a huge difference between a clever student who's done well, and a real scholar. Students often don't achieve much really, sometimes if they are lucky they make some money for themselves and their employers but a scholar - they are the ones who really can move mankind forward. They shake the world! Perhaps not in their own lifetime, but they are more likely to be remembered long after the armies of bright students have been forgotten. The scholar seeks the truth alone - nothing more.

The New Paradigm

“..We are supposed to be children who leave important decisions to them. We are being infantilized. For eg. Hollywood movies were based on novels; now, they're based on comic books……

…We have a faux society. The central bankers (Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Warburgs and the rich) control the media, politicians, professors, journalists. Those who deviate from the script are quickly marginalized. Our social, political and cultural life is a charade, a fraud. The latest example: "Family Secrets," a new book exposing the Bushes' role in this conspiracy can't get reviewed in the mainstream media. In a healthy society, this book would be in the headlines.

There are hundreds of universities offering thousands of courses but the conspiracy paradigm is not among them. The true consciousness of humanity is kept alive by a few score private scholars who are like monks in the Dark Age..."
