Bishop Gene Robinson.
An investigation of this immodest man around the Internet displays the totally egocentric, self-centred person I suspected, "Me me, me," and "I -this, and I- that." All he ever does is talk about himself! Has this bishop ever done anything other than exactly what he wants, when he wants to, as much as possible, all his adult life? He admits he has deeply hurt his long-suffering wife and children, and he carries on his own sweet way regardless while lapping up misplaced sympathy and wallowing in self-pity. An admitted alcoholic, he seems to enjoy the limelight a little too much! Currently, he is prowling around Canterbury in spite of not being invited, reminding everyone of his existence and causing as much controversy as he can. What a coincidence, he has just had his book published! "In the Eye of the Storm." 2008. It is all about himself, naturally. A brilliant but cynical opportunity to promote his controversial views, and make as much dosh as possible at the same time? Pure self-promotion, just like all the other shallow, useful idiot celebrities that are tolerated/despised by the public these days?
Cheesy cannot help wondering if this man , a bishop who is supposed to try and be as Christ-like as possible - which is what being a real Christian actually is, has anything at all in common with Jesus Christ? You know, the totally selfless individual who always put others first, who spent his whole, short life serving others, and who died for us all. Remember him? He had a certain attitude to money too, I seem to recall!
To be honest, if a wilful and completely self-absorbed bunch of people want their own way so much that they are threatening to break away from the main body of the church if they cannot have it, then perhaps they should simply go. Where? Well he's the theologian, perhaps he might like to think about that, it would make a change from thinking about himself all the time.
