The planned food shortages will mean that Governments can use them as an excuse to take control of food.
The first act of the new government of the USSR on taking power was to collectivise the farms and take control of food. Result - only"privileged" people ate well, only "good" people ate adequately, everyone else - 97% of the population, starved.
Remember the pigs in "Animal Farm" by George Orwell? "Some animals are more equal than others."
Same thing happened in the Peoples' Republic of China, same in Cambodia, same in Zimbabwe, etc. Read history books and find out for yourself. Bear in mind that the offspring and admirers of these regimes run the UK (these "pigs" run ALL 3 main political parties in the UK) and other European countries. The EU will soon be the EUSSR!
By killing or imprisoning farmers, or kicking smallholders and peasants off their land, massive starvation is always the result.
