Today the 800-year-old British constitution has been fatally undermined and the British Parliament has, against the wishes of the true “sovereigns” the voters, delegated the government of Britain to others. The British courts no longer decide or interpret our law, the British people have lost their exclusively British passport (the one document which has in the past proved conclusive in the determination of treasonable conduct) and they have become “citizens” of a so called “European Union”, with duties towards and taxable by that supranational power.
This process of undermining national democracies and establishing unaccountable bureaucratic and corporatist government at the supranational level has been taken further in European than in North America. But by imitating the European model the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has within it the seeds of the destruction of Canada, Mexico and the USA as self-governing democracies.
The British Constitution is (or was before Edward Heath’s scandalous betrayal of 1972) principally the written historical record of the statutes of our Parliament, case law and convention. Each Act of Parliament was capable of overturning previous Acts or parts of previous Acts. Heath’s 1972 European Act purported to completely reverse that principle - thus binding all future parliaments to the rule of Brussels and all future Acts over turn-able by that 1972 Act. Thus Westminster statutes like the 1985 Weights and Measures Act and the Merchant Shipping Act have been overturned by those who passed them (supine British MPs) on the orders of the Euro-State.
Later Treaties merely extended the 1972 obeisance to alien law (usually by deceit and sleight of hand) to ever more areas of policy making. None of this was ever contained in a British Party’s election manifesto.
Or rather this is what Heath and other Prime Ministers who signed European Treaties purported to do. In fact the whole edifice is both democratically and constitutionally corrupt, as the late Norris McWhirter and I demonstrated in detail in our 1994 book Treason at Maastricht. The disgraceful use of Crown Prerogative to sign international treaties which overturned (de facto or de jure it matters little) the internal constitution of the United Kingdom was the greatest betrayal in British history. As the Liberty Fund wrote of the great English constitutionalist Sir Edward Coke (1552 - 1634):
“He successfully defended English liberties against the royal prerogative of the Stuart kings and established the rule of Law for the English speaking peoples”.
And in the 20th century under Edward Heath, John Major, Tony Blair and (suspicious but suitably misled) even Margaret Thatcher that achievement of Sir Edward Coke has been reversed. Today the British people have lost their liberty to the new Stuarts — the corporatist, authoritarian, anti-democratic Leviathan of the European Union — and they have done so through elected politicians using that very instrument of Royal Prerogative power against their own people.
But given the nature of the European Union and the history of its founders this is not surprising. Leading Nazis and Fascists were prominent in the founding of the European Common Market, the principles of which were clearly laid out in the work of Hitler’s Economics Minister Walter Funk in 1942 - see the book Treason at Maastricht). It was Nazis who developed the Charlemagne Prize given to those who have done most to destroy the democratic nation states of Europe (Bill Clinton, Edward Heath, Tony Blair, Roy Jenkins, etc). And one of the leading European movements promoting ethnic regionalism was founded by the Nazis and is today funded by the German Government (the Federal Union of European Nationalities).
The modern European Union incorporates that same mixture of German imperialism and European Fascism which we fought two world wars to defeat. Today, through the corporatist and supranational power of the European Union, its single currency and its destruction of 27 national constitutions those defeated powers have, led by Germany, largely overturned the Treaties of Versailles which concluded the First World War and the Treaties of Potsdam and Yalta which concluded the Second World War.
German interests are gradually taking over central and Eastern Europe with the acquisition of industrial and financial corporations, newspapers, television and radio stations in Poland, the Czech Republic and the former Yugoslavia. Czechoslovakia has been broken up as has Yugoslavia — and into virtually the same petty states created by Mussolini’s Italy and Hitler’ Germany in the 1940s.
Britain and the USA have conspired with the German political class to destroy their historic allies (the Serbs, Czechs, Poles and others) and promote historic enemies like the Slovaks, Croats, Albanians and Muslim Bosnians all of which states were devoted followers of Fascism in the 1940s. The attack on Yugoslavia (illegal on at least 7 counts under international law — see LINK) was instigated by Germany and the decades long interventions in Yugoslavia by its Secret Service.
The break up of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia by Germany in the 1990s was based on their careful structuring of the European Union’s supranational law (to bypass parliaments), its presumption of “European citizenship” (to bypass nation states), regionalism (to bypass democratic governments in national capitals) a central bureaucracy and “European Court of Justice” (to replace democratic accountability with non parliamentary bureaucratic control) and the promotion of ethnic groups as a battering ram to destroy the homogeneity of the nation states.
None of this would have been possible without the removal of two fundamental pillars of democratic internationalism. Firstly the subservience of bureaucratic and corporate power to the democratic process, parliament and the rule of law was reversed. This had happened domestically through high taxation, State economic and social interventions, a new professional political class and the mass media manipulation of electorates. But it was the use of Crown prerogative (or Presidential prerogative) powers which enabled Governments to sign away democratic constitutional control by international treaties — which were then presented to national Parliaments as a fait accompli.
Having turned MPs into paid lackeys of the State, the State apparatus and the party hierarchies were able to turn the “democratic representatives” of the people into a pliant rubber stamp for such anti-democratic notions. The treaties which undermined national democracies were therefore passed - only occasionally with any difficulty — into law.
Secondly at the Supranational level all the historic and legal precedents which protected the nation state as sovereign (i.e. self-governing) were systematically abandoned. The interventions by Germany, the USA and the European Union in Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia and today’s illegal recognition of an Albanian Kosovo, were in defiance of the explicit terms of Section III of the 1975 Helsinki final Act (inviolability of frontiers), of Article 2 (4) of the UN Charter and of the first international treaty to set these principles, the 1648 Treaty of Westphalia.
Significantly the latter treaty brought peace to Europe after decades of religious wars and the principle is perhaps even more vital today to counter the supranational hegemonies of the secular religions of corporatism, communism and fascism - although we must never forget the major role played by the Vatican (which tried to strangle the Italian state at birth) in the “building of Europe”.
To say that the European Union is a combination of modern corporatism and historic fascism may sound extreme but readers of this article might like to guess which of these quotations from European leaders stem from the 1930s and 40s and which from the 1990s:
“Might is right in politics and war” “Genocide is a natural phenomenon, it is recommended, even commanded by the Almighty”. “Many Jews survive today thanks to the circumstance that they were forced Labourers. Germans are tired of philo-semitic over-compensation in the media and sterile grief Rituals by politicians”
“The Jews should consider whether they would have behaved heroically if they had not been victims of the persecution” “Germany should now, as it has become peaceful and reasonable, get all that Europe and the whole world has refused in two gigantic wars - a sort of smooth hegemony over Europe”
In fact all the above ideas were expressed in the 1990s by (in this order) Helmut Kohl, Chancellor of Germany, Franjo Tudjman, President of Croatia, Professor Lutz Niethammer, Adviser to German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, Klaus von Dohnanyi, the Former Mayor of Hamburg and Joschka Fischer, Former German Foreign Secretary.
No wonder, as Newsweek noted on 6th June 1997, that German troops who marched into Bosnia after the break up of Yugoslavia in 1997 were greeted with cries of “Sieg Heil.”
